“All you need is love” – The Beatles
“What the world needs now is love, sweet love” – song lyrics by Hal David
Is love good? Depends on the context. Is gravity good? It holds us to the Earth. In fact the Earth and the Sun would not exist without gravity. But if you are falling off a cliff, gravity is not good for you, in that situation. You might wish it could be temporarily suspended!
Take World War 2. Hitler’s acts resulted, in part, from his great love for the Fatherland and the German people.
“The road to hell is paved with good intentions.” Good intentions without knowledge often lead to negative consequences. Love without understanding often leads to destruction.
Another example: the Christian religion is supposed to be founded on love. But the Inquisition tortured and killed many, and the Christian Spanish Empire Conquest of America killed and enslaved many and destroyed the Inca and Aztec civilizations. The Spanish coveted American gold to finance their Counter-Reformation wars, believing they were fighting for the true Christianity. They loved God and Jesus…
Love is a force, like gravity. Perhaps gravity is a manifestation of love. Gravity is the love of matter/energy for other matter/energy. The Earth and the Sun love each other.
Gravity does not in itself allow us to fly. But knowledge of how gravity works, along with other knowledge, enables us to build machines to fly. Knowledge of gravity enables us to dam rivers and generate power. Knowledge of love’s laws also enables the use of potential power.
Hitler was a failed initiate. Initiates learn secret knowledge of how to work with and control the force or energy sometimes called love. Failed initiates stop there and apply that knowledge without the higher understanding which would put it in context. Gandhi is an example of someone who used the force of love with understanding.
Love will not save the world. What will save the world is a sufficient number of people with a sufficiently high level of understanding, together with knowledge of how to apply the laws of love.
